Who is Halbrand in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power?

Halbrand is actually the Dark Lord known asSaurondisguised.
The character was a man described by Amazon Studios as "a human being on the run from his past, whose fate is intertwined with Galadriel's."
In the second episode, Galadriel meets Halbrand as she is pulled from the rough seas towards the wreckage of a ship on which Halbrand is another passenger.
When Halbrand discovers that Galadriel is an elf, others on board push her out of the wreck just before they are attacked by a sea creature.
As a result, Halbrand carries Galadriel back to the rubble and the two are the only survivors. They both face a dangerous storm and save their lives.

Halbrand seems to be haunted by his past and Galadriel comments that they can move on and start over.
"Whatever you've done, get rid of it," Galadriel tells him.
NOthird episode, Halbrand begins to accompany Galadriel to Númenor when they are both taken there by Captain Elendil (Lloyd Owen), who rescued them from the Riven Sea.
There, Halbrand helps end the rift between Galadriel and Queen Regent Miriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and makes sure they stay there for the time being.
Halbrand reveals that he hopes to start a new life in Númenor, but finds it difficult to find work and soon finds himself at odds with the local men, displaying his fighting prowess and spell casting ability.

Later, when Galadriel visits him in a cell, she reveals that she knows that the necklace around his neck represents that of a king who united groups of men in the Southlands under a single banner.
It follows from this that Halbrand is indeed the heir to the title of King of the Southlands, but Halbrand points out that he is not the hero Galadriel seeks, even if his people need him against a new threat.
Halbrand also points out that his ancestor sided with Morgoth against the Elves, but Galadriel wants them to improve on what came before.

emthe fourth episode, Halbrand remains imprisoned, but is soon taken captive by Galadriel after coming into conflict with the Regent.
Later in the episode, Galadriel escapes from her cell and Halbrand advises Chancellor Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle) not to interfere with the elf's plans, and he agrees.
By the end of the episode, Galadriel has convinced the Regent to go to Middle-earth and save the Southlands from a dark threat, and hopes to place Halbrand on his rightful throne.
In the final scenes, Halbrand walks freely through the city.
emthe fifth episode, Halbrand is convinced by Galadriel to claim his birthright as King of the Southlands and ultimately decides to put his past behind him and join the army with the Regent and Galadriel as they sail to Middle-earth.
emthe sixth episode, Halbrand was one of the leaders in the fight againstadar(Jose Maulle).

Halbrand managed to stop Adar from escaping with Sauron's fist, but Galadriel had to stop him from killing the villain. Halbrand made it clear that he wanted revenge on Adar for what he had done to him, but Adar did not remember Halbrand, instead speculating that he had harmed a woman or child Halbrand was caring for.
Later, Adar asked who Halbrand was after being questioned by Galadriel.
After defeating the Orcs of Adar, the Regent identified Halbrand to the southerners, who hailed him as the king they had been waiting for.
However, disaster struck when it was revealed that Adar's plan to use his fist to unleash a body of water that flooded the Southlands before encountering a volcano and triggering a volcanic eruption.
The entire country is under threat as the eruption engulfs it.

In the seventh episode, it was revealed that Halbrand survived the outbreak but was badly injured, prompting Galadriel to find her own people to help heal him.
sin final,Halbrand participated in the discussions that led to the creation of the Elven Rings of Power.
However, before that, Galadriel discovered that Halbrand was not who he claimed to be and that the lineage of the king of the southern lands was broken.
It was then that Halbrand admitted the truth: he is Sauron himself.
After unsuccessfully trying to get Galadriel to try his cause, Sauron fled to the dark land of Mordor.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of PowerExplanation of Halbrand's theories

There have been a number of theories about the true nature of Halbrand's character, whose dark past is clearly destined to pique our interest.
Halbrand was apparently a mortal man with the birthright to the throne of the Southlands in Middle-earth. Seemingly fleeing from his past evil deeds and his ancestors' alliance with the forces of darkness, Halbrand was far from fulfilling the duties of a king.

One of the earliest fan theories, which turned out to be correct, was that Halbrand was, in fact, the Dark Lord himself.Sauron, disguised.
In the series, Galadriel is one of the few who believe that Sauron is still a threat to Middle-earth and is responsible for the death of his noble older brother Finrod (Will Fletcher).
Galadriel rejects the chance to return to the immortal lands of Valinor, wishing to return to Middle-earth, avenge her brother, and defeat the enemy.
In a cruel twist of fate, it was Sauron himself who became her primary companion, and perhaps even her love interest, in the form of Halbrand.

It wasn't entirely unprecedented compared to Tolkien's lore, albeit with a few tweaks.
Traditionally, Sauron was one of Valinor's angelic Maiar called the Mairon before being corrupted by the mighty Morgoth and serving as his first lieutenant, as shown on the show.
After Morgoth's defeat, Sauron escaped but reappeared in a beautiful and seductive form known as Annatar.
In this form, Annatar/Sauron joined Lord Celebrimbor and assisted him and the Elven Forges in shaping the Rings of Power.
Sauron secretly formed the One Ring in the flames of Mount Doom in Mordor to control the other rings, but sensing its influence they were removed. After this Sauron went to war against the elves, but an alliance with the men of Númenor forced him to return to Mordor.

Later, Sauron slew Lord Celebrimbor and the Elven forges and gave the Seven Rings to the Dwarves and the Nine Rings to the Humans, but only the Humans bent to his will and became the Ringwraiths known as the Nazgûl. Meanwhile, the elves salvaged the Three Rings and they were used by the High King Gil-galad, Círdan, and Galadriel.
Subsequently, an army from Númenor defeated Sauron and returned him to his island nation, but he used his power to corrupt the state to its core and convince them to wage war against Valinor, prompting the god Eru to seek the destruction of Númenor.
Sauron survived but lost his ability to look beautiful.
How much of this will happen in the series remains to be seen.

Well, we know that Halbrand is in Númenor now, so maybe he can create something naughty here to reflect Tolkein's lore.
Also, evil seems to have taken control of the Southlands and Halbrand regrets his past actions there, but does he really?
Adar also stated in the sixth episode that he "opened" Sauron and killed him andHalbrand has been shown to hold a grudge against Adar.but I wouldn't say why, but now we know why.
Adar did not recognize Halbrand, probably due to his new form.
The Dark Elf also noted that Sauron devoted himself to healing Middle-earth and bringing the shattered lands to perfect order after Morgoth's defeat. It was this clue that exposed Halbrand to Galadriel when Celebrimbor repeated a similar statement made by Halbrand to him, leading Galadriel to discover the truth about the kings of the Southlands.
Halbrand also appeared in several scenes from previous episodes advising Pharazôn and the Queen Regent, which turned out to be very charming and persuasive. Is this the beginning of Sauron's control over Númenor?
What other semi-rim theories were there?

Similarly, some thought that he might have been one of Sauron's best lieutenants: theWitch King of Angmar, one of the Nazgûl.
The Witch-king was a human ruler over humans until Sauron bestowed on him one of the Nine Rings and corrupted him, becoming the leader of the dreaded Nagul, ruling his own domain of Minas Morgul between Gondor and Mordor.
We knew that Halbrand was a contender for the title of King of the Southlands and a wanderer who could claim his kingdom and protect his people.
Another theory was that Halbrand might have been the man who would become him.king of the dead
In the lore of the books, the King of the Dead was a man who ruled a kingdom in the White Mountains and succeeded Sauron.

Eventually, however, this king decided to swear an oath to help Isildur, the king of Gondor, should he ever need her.
However, when necessary, the king would not appear when Isildur needed him, causing Isildur to curse the king and his followers, thus they were forced to remain spooky spirits until the oath was fulfilled. Finally, Aragorn, a descendant of Isildur, asked the army of the dead for help in fighting Sauron.
Alternatively, Halbrand could have been a completely original creation with no connection to Sauron, Morgoth, or anyone else, but he was just a man from Middle-earth with a dark past.
If he were in fact just a villainous hero with a connection to a handsome royal lineage, perhaps he would be a direct parallel to Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.
Fans will remember that Aragorn son of Arathorn was a descendant of Isildur and the rightful king of Gondor and Arnor, but he lived much of his life in hiding and later as a ranger named Strider.
However, actor Charlie Vickers seemed to hint at some key revelations about Halbrand.
Talk toColisor, Vickers described Halbrand as "just a guy. Just a guy from Middle-earth", but then he said that...

Describing his relationship with Galadriel, Vickers says of Halbrand: "But I think when they meet, from Hal's perspective, he knows that Galadriel is special. I won't say if he knows exactly who she is. I have a decision on that, but I think it's better to leave it ambiguous.
"I think from his perspective it brings out some things in him and sheds some light on some things in his mind that he didn't necessarily consider, things about his own life and his own past as they get to know each other a little bit more." . But when they first met, I think he's quite secretive and suspicious of her."
later addeddecision maker:"I think there are certainly elements of his origin, where he's from, where there is that connection through his ancestors. They fall in the wrong direction at the end of the First Age.
"As for the fate of his character, I think as we watch the story unfold, surely the questions playing out in his mind about his past and future life outside of the Southlands will leave you unanswered at this stage."
Of course, Charlie knew who Halbrand was all along... Sauron.
Who plays Halbrand in Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power?

Halbrand is played in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power by an Australian actor.Charlie Vickers.
A relative newcomer, Vickers previously appeared in the movie Palm Beach and the TV series Medici as Guglielmo Pazzi.
Talking about her work on the set of Rings of Power, Vickers revealed: "It was overwhelming at times because everything is so interactive.
